Exhibition title: Light Roller
Artists: Justin Beard
Exhibition dates: February 3 – February 28, 2010
Exhibition space: RMCAD’s Rude Gallery

Light Roller is an installation of a black steel machine with a foot pedal that controls an arm that moves a mirrored disco ball-like paint roller up and down a black wall. This work was based on his experience of a beam of sunlight bouncing off of his paint roller while painting a small room at work.  The artist explains his workday as waking “up around six and get to work by seven. I work as a handyman at Rocky Mountain College Of Art & Design. I’m usually painting or patching holes or something. I love it because it is a job where I’m able to daydream and think about things. I get off work about three thirty and go to the studio.”
